Razorblades
Razorblades and Upper Taos Box
Class IV+ whitewater in the "Blades" and Class V in the Upper Taos Box When water levels allow we run the EXTREMELY difficult and powerful upper gorge sections. The Razorblades is a Class IV section for those who have seen the Lower Taos Box section and want to try something different and it\'s the section we use as a primer for Upper Taos Box Raft trips. The Upper Taos Box is as tough as it gets. This is some serious Class V whitewater, long, steep, complicated rapids with Very Serious Consequences in the event of swims and flips. Both trips involve a steep hike into and out of the upper gorge. All guests will go through some serious raft handling and safety instruction involving; how to paddle, dry land command training, high side & low side techniques, swimming in big whitewater, swimming under the boat, staying out of rock sieves, getting yourself back into the boat, saving your own ass when all hell breaks loose. The guide can\'t save you when he is saving himself.
Upper Taos Box guests will go through some strenuous physical aptitude testing involving up hill running while holding breath, sit-ups, chin-ups, and a anaerobic "Simon Says" drill to get you thinking on your feet while working your butt off. Anyone not meeting the head guides expectations will not be allowed to participate and will forfeit deposit. Paddle boats and Paddle Assist oar boats (guides decision)
Minimum age for Razorblades is 16 parents or guardian must be present.
Minimum age for Upper Taos Box is 18
Razorblades $130 per person / Upper Taos Box $250 per person
